5.Jebel Ali
Jebel Ali Port (also known as Mina Jabal Ali) is a deep-water seaport in Jebel Ali, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is also the world's largest man-made port and the busiest port in the Middle East. The port was built in 1979 to supplement the facilities of Rashid Port. The port is located 35 kilometers southwest of Dubai. The village of Jebel Ali has been built, covering an area of 134 square kilometers (52 square miles) with a population of 300 people, all of whom are port workers (from 120 countries). With 67 berths and an area of 1.3468 million square kilometers, more than 5000 companies have settled here. The port is operated by DPWorld. Jebel Ali Port has become the most common port of call for the US Navy. The depth and size of the port can meet the requirements for Nimitz class aircraft carriers and several battle group ships to dock. Due to the high frequency of docking at these docks, semi permanent free facilities (referred to by service personnel as "sandboxes") have been established in adjacent berths.
The expansion of Jebel Ali Port began in 2001, which is the overall plan of the port. The project consists of 15 stages, which will be completed within ten years. In the first phase in 2007, an additional 2.2 million TEUs of storage and processing capacity were added, as well as a 1200 meter quay line. The entire project includes a new berth of 2.4 kilometers, a storage yard behind the berth, supporting infrastructure, and a necessary fully functional terminal. The new terminal will be completed through reclamation on top of the existing ports, with an estimated completion time of 2030, increasing annual production capacity to 55 million TEUs, surpassing Shanghai Port and Singapore Port by then.
