The total investment of Port Sor and its affiliated free trade zone exceeds 15 billion US dollars. The port plans to leverage Yemen's free trade agreement with the United States and opportunities in the Middle East to leverage its unique location to connect Asia, the Persian Gulf, and the United States. It is reported that the Port of Suhar connects Asia, the Persian Gulf, and the United States through the Oman coast, avoiding the additional costs required to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. The existing road network and the future railway system and airport can provide direct lines connecting the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, as well as other places in the world.
