Maputo Port is the largest commercial port in Mozambique, East Africa. It is located in Maputo Bay in the south of the country, close to Maputo City, 460 nautical miles to Beira Port in the north, 1326 nautical miles to Port of Dar es Salaam, 271 nautical miles to Durban Port in the south, and 1071 nautical miles to Cape Town Port; It is 1424 nautical miles from Fort Dodd to Port Louis in the east. The port is divided into general cargo port area and bulk cargo special Quayside. The general cargo terminal extends from northeast to southwest, forming a connected area. The terminal line is 3033 meters long and the water depth is 6.8-10.6 meters, allowing 12-15 ships to dock at the same time. There are 11 main dock berths in the port area, with a shoreline length of 3275 meters and a maximum water depth of 12.8 meters. The loading and unloading equipment includes various types of shore cranes, portable cranes, container cranes, heavy cranes, ship loaders, conveyor belts, and tugboats. The maximum lifting capacity of the shore crane is 60 tons, the heavy crane can reach 80 tons, and the maximum power of the tugboat is 2350kW. The port has a bulk cargo yard with a capacity of 430000 tons, a container capacity of 1300TEU, and a tank capacity of 200000 tons. Loading and unloading efficiency: 2900 tons of grain per day, 5000 tons of coal per day, and 10000 tons of sugar per day. The local transit area was founded in 1980. In 1992, the container throughput reached 13000 TEU, with an annual cargo throughput of approximately 25 million tons, of which approximately 90% were transit goods. The main export goods are coal, iron, asbestos, chromium, manganese, corn, sucrose, fruits, sisal hemp, and cotton, while the imported goods are wood, fertilizers, fuel, machinery, and grain.
